Some suggestions for camp

Just a few thoughts on taking valuables to camp. The first thing is that we (the teachers) will not be responsible for your items, if you bring them, you have to take care of them and ensure that they are put away safe and sound when not in use. If you leave them out in the open you take the risk of losing them, you are not at home.

If you are still planning on bringing a camera, MP3 player, or some such similar expensive personal item with you, you should take a few steps before you go.
  • Make sure you have written the details of the item down somewhere safe. That is; the make, model and serial number of the device. It is very hard to figure out who owns what, when there are four IPods that all look the same. You can find the serial number on the back of the device as a rule.
  • Power supplies/chargers, make sure you pack the charger or spare batteries. Your device will drain quickly if turned on and off a lot or shared with others.
  • The USB download cable for your camera. I do not want to download your pictures to my computer as I do not want to be responsible if they get lost because my laptop fell into a bottomless ravine. However if needed I will attempt to do so in an emergency, that is download your pictures not fall into a bottomless ravine.
  • On the same topic (no not the ravine), before packing away your camera ready for camp download any pictures that may be on it. You may find that your parents' are not very happy when they find out you have deleted all their holiday snaps from 2002, so that you could get 12 pictures of your dorm with your fluffy hippo on your bed.

A reminder about mobile phones. Will shout here as it is important.

"They are not permitted on this camp"

Please do not bring them, you have signed an agreement, which clearly states that you have agreed not to bring a mobile phone. If you do then you must be prepared to accept the consequences for your decision.

If you have any questions make sure you ask them before the end of the day (Friday) as the next time you see us will be on the bus, watching the wheels go around and round......
